He was raised by his grandfather, Abdul-Muttalib, and later by his paternal uncle Abu Talib. As a young man, Muhammad was known for his trustworthiness and truthfulness and was given the title Al-Amin, meaning “The Trustworthy One.” As he grew older, he devoted more time to contemplation and spiritual reflection, often retreating to a Hira cave near Mecca to meditate.
He believed that his encounters in this cave were with the angel Gabriel, who revealed the revelations in the Quran. Through these revelations, Muhammad began to preach the message of Islam.
وَ مَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنٰکَ اِلَّا رَحۡمَۃً لِّلۡعٰلَمِیۡنَ And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples. Quran : [ 21 : 107 ]
Family and Personal Life of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was married to eleven women in his lifetime, all from different backgrounds.
His first wife was Khadija bint Khuwaylid, who was also his first and only wife for 25 years until her death.
The other eight marriages were contracted to foster strong ties between the Prophet and various tribes and clans or to help widows in the War.
وَأَنْكِحُوا الْأَيَامَىٰ مِنْكُمْ وَالصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ وَإِمَائِكُمْ إِنْ يَكُونُوا فُقَرَاءَ يُغْنِهِمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ" Marry those among you who are single, and those of your male and female slaves who are fit [for marriage]. If they are poor, God will provide for them from His bounty, for God’s bounty is infinite and He is all knowing. Surat No. 24 Ayat NO. 32
The Prophet’s wives were: Khadija bint Khuwaylid, A’isha bint Abu Bakr, Hafsa bint Umar, Zaynab bint Khuzayma, Umm Salama Hind bint Abi Umayya, Zaynab bint Jahsh, Juwayriya bint Al-Harith, Safiyya bint Huyayy, and Maymuna bint Al-Harith.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was blessed with four daughters from his marriage to Khadija bint Khuwaylid and two sons from his marriage to Maria bint Shamun.
His daughters were Zaynab bint Muhammad, Ruqayyah bint Muhammad, Umm Kulthum bint Muhammad, and Fatimah Zahra bint Muhammad. His sons were Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad and Abdullah ibn Muhammad.

Mother Aisha reported: "After the Prophet (PBUH) was miraculously taken by night to the furthest mosque in Jerusalem, he awoke and told the people about it. Some of them renounced their faith and belief in him. They sought Abu Bakr and said, "Have you heard that your friend imagined he was taken to the sacred house by night?" Abu Bakr said, "Did he say that?" They said yes. Abu Bakr said, "If he said it, he has spoken the truth." They said, "Do you believe he went to the sacred house by night and returned before morning?" Abu Bakr said, "Yes. Verily, I believe what is even more astonishing than that. I believe he has received messages from heaven for everything he does."
